All of the full-time teaching staff at Little Ark Preschool are ECE Qualified, First-Aid Certified, and hold their License to Practice in BC. All four of the current teachers at Little Ark Preschool share a strong vision as well as deeply rooted philosophy surrounding early child care and education.

Jessica Wheeler
Head Teacher
Jessica grew up in a family of six children in White Rock, BC. The exhilarating energy of a preschool environment feels like home to her and she even likes the noise! An outdoor enthusiast, Jessica enjoys skimboarding on the sandy beaches in White Rock and snowboarding on the local mountains. She is intrigued by cultures around the world and holds a Certificate in Travel and Tourism.

Jessica obtained her ECE Certificate in June of 2004 from Capilano University and joined the Little Ark teaching team in September 2005. Her previous work experiences with children include daycare and after-school care. Jessica's philosophy of education is based upon a belief that children learn through play. She works to create stimulating environments in which children feel free to explore and investigate different learning possibilities. Jessica brings with her an enthusiasm and love for learning that she is eager to share with the children in our programs. She is excited to continue building relationships with the children and their families within the community.

David
Teacher
David grew up in Montréal Québec, but knew the west was where he wanted to be the very first time he set eyes on the Rocky Mountains. He moved here in 2000, after completing his BA, majoring in child studies education. He later obtained his ECE certificate here in BC.

David has over 12 years experience working with children of all ages. His work environments include preschools, daycares, out-of-school-cares, cruise ships and the great outdoors. His favorite part of working with children of the preschool age is their genuine excitement in discovering new things, and their openness and ability to be in the present moment. He strives to bring his compassion and empathy into the classroom so that he can help support and encourages the children to feel good about who they are and what they are doing.

Tricia
Teacher
Tricia is the most recent addition to the Little Ark Family.  Tricia grew up in Trinidad and Tobago and at 18 moved to Halifax where she pursued a Bachelor’s Degree in Child Psychology at St. Mary’s University.  She has always had a great passion for children, especially in their growth and development and this was realized overwhelmingly when she served as a Child Guidance Counselor after completing her degree.  Her interest in the field stemmed from that foundation and she completed her ECE certificate in 2010 from MTI Community College

Tricia has always marveled at the capabilities of children with the creativity and passion they possess. She truly believes that children are our future and we, as individuals, are both teachers and pupils when working with them.  Tricia is delighted to be made a part of the team at Little Ark.  She looks forward to developing a great rapport with your children and more so, to help mold and educate in a manner that is synonymous with the culture at Little Ark Preschool.

Sarah
Teacher
Sarah grew up in Toronto Ontario in a great community in North York with a very diverse group of friends. The "six group", a group of six best friends from around the world would teach each other their languages during recess - she still remembers how to count to 10 in Japanese! She had a dream of becoming a teacher in grade two and made this a reality in 2001 when she went to school at George Brown College for her Early Childhood Assistant Certificate and then her Early Childhood Education Diploma.

Sarah has experiences working in daycares, schools, out of school care centres, opening a new daycare and working as a nanny in parts of the world such as Toronto Ontario, Vancouver B.C., Negril Jamaica, London England, Sardinia Italy, The French Alps, and Seoul Korea.  Bringing nature into the classroom, making activities and books with the children for the classroom and learning songs, stories and games from around the world are some of her passions in teaching. She has written some childrens books which she hopes to have published one day.  Sarah is looking forward to getting to know you and your families at Little Ark Preschool!
